- Pencils or pens- extras in case one breaks or runs out
- Your reading notebook (it will no longer be kept in the bin in class unless you want to keep it there!) *Should have READING WORK ONLY in it!*
- Your agenda
- Loose-leaf paper
- Red Vocabulary Workshop Booklet
- Independent Reading Text (what book are you reading on your own? ALWAYS have something!)
- Your folder or binder where you keep hand-outs and graded papers
- Your homework that is due

Write from the prompt posted on the board daily (or write whatever you like).
- As you enter the room, pick up a PLEASE DO NOW (PDN) sheet for the day.
- Sit in your assigned seat immediately.
- Start your PDN task as soon as you are seated.
- Timer will start when class starts.
- Do NOT wait on your notebook to be passed out to start working! PDNs will be completed on the half-sheet, NOT in the notebooks.
- Keep your PDN slip with you until class is over and use it as your ticket to leave!
INDEPENDENT READING
When you finish a book…
- Take a “My favorite” slip to complete.
- Turn the completed “My favorite” slip into the teacher.
- Receive your book sticker to put on the chart!
- Read the other completed “My favorite” slips to pick a new book to read!
- Keep enjoying your reading!
